Three LB Shootings Overnight Within Approx. Two Hours
(June 12, 2005) -- LB had three shootings within approximately two hours on Saturday night-Sunday morning June 11-12: one in the 10th/Orange area, the second on the south side of Scherer Park and a third in the south Wrigley area on Chestnut just north of PCH.
Info below is preliminary this a.m. from LBPD Public Information Officer Greg Schirmer. LBPD's Gang Detail is investigating all three events to determnine whether or not they are gang related. LBPD has not determined as we post whether the shootings are gang related, or whether all or some of the events are related to each other.
- Saturday night, June 11, approx. 10:18 p.m.: Reports of "shots fired" in area of 10th/Orange. LBPD responds...and believes a male was shot...but the victim can't be found. A female victim is found wounded in the arm with a possible richochet injury, non-life threatening. Suspect(s) is/are on the loose.
- June 12, shortly after midnight: 200 block E. 46th St. (area south of Scherer Park, site of LBPD's North Division police compound). LBPD believed a group of males confronted another group of males at a home and someone pulled out a gun and started firing into the crowd. Two people were hit: a male age 19 (non-life threatening) and a male age 17 in critical condition as we post.
- June 12, also after midnight: 1800 block Chestnut Ave., a group of males is walking down an alley. Shots ring out. The gunfire leaves one male wounded in the foot.
