(March 29, 2006) -- A 30-year old off-duty L.A. Sheriff's Deputy, on her way to work on March 28, was shot and mortally wounded at about 6:00 a.m. as she left the Wrigley area residence of a friend in the 2900 block of Eucalyptus Ave. The shooting triggered an intense search...but no suspects in custody or publicly identified...and some of the circumstances remain unclear as post.
What is known is that LBPD responded to the location and found Maria Cecelia Rosa suffering from gunshot wounds.
Deputy Rosa was rushed to nearby Memorail Hospital but succumbed to her wounds.

LBPD set up a perimeter and canvassed the well-kept neighborhood between Pacific Ave. and the east bank of the L.A. river...but a suspect(s) remained at large and unidentified.
LBReport.com has learned that LBPD canvassed door to door for a second time on the evening of March 28, asking residents if they'd seen anything or anyone out of the ordinary.
Further as we learn it.
