One Man Murdered, Another Wounded, 2400 Block Linden Ave.

(May 12, 2003) -- A 32-year old man was shot to death, and another was shot and wounded, shortly after midnight on Saturday night/Sunday morning in the 2400 block of Linden Ave. in the 6th Council district.

LBPD says that at about 12:30 a.m. on May 11, it responded with LBFD and found both victims suffering from gunshot wounds. Cesar Cromenta, 22, of Cudahy was shot in the torso, arm and leg. He was transported to a local hospital and died in surgery. A second shooting victim, described only as a 31 year old adult male Hispanic, was treated for a single gunshot wound to his leg.

LBPD says its preliminary investigation indicates both men were moving furniture from a vehicle in front of the location when suspects, described as male Hispanics in their 30's, approached them after driving up in a compact vehicle.

Police say the suspects walked up to the victims, shot them, then fled in their vehicle. The motive for the shooting is under investigation.

LBPD asks anyone with information about this crime to call Homicide Detectives Richard Birdsall or Scott Lasch at (562) 570-7244.
