(May 16, 2003) -- Long Beach Community College Board of Trustees meetings are now televised.
In February, LBCC Boardmembers voted unanimously to make their meetings available to the public via LBCC's cable television channel (Channel 15 in LB, and Channel 32 in Lakewood).
LBCC's Tuesday Board meetings are taped for rebroadcast on Wednesday (8:30 p.m.), Friday (9:00 p.m.) and Sunday (5:00 p.m.)
(Caveat: The LBCC Board doesn't meet every week. The schedule also changes in the summer starting June 18 (Weds. & Fridays @ 8:00 p.m., Sundays @ 6:00 p.m.) and will change each term for instructional programming. Broadcasts end with a screen showing the week's viewing schedule; informational on-air slides also show the schedule.)
[LBReport.com tip to LBCC: We suggest putting the schedule info on your web site.]
The schedule can be accessed at LBCC Board of Trustees broadcast schedule.
The first LBCC Board meeting (May 13) was telecast on May 14...and will be rebroadcast on May 16 (9:00 p.m.) and Sunday May 18 (5:00 p.m.)
LBCC's Board authorized spending an amount not to exceed $20,000 for equipment and other expenses to implement the television service, plus additional ongoing costs for staff support and supplies.
At the LBCC's April 22 Board meeting, student Trustee Daya Washington presented a check to the Long Beach Community College District from the Associated Student Body to assist the taping of each Board of Trustees meeting in the amount of $12,420.00.
