(October 29, 2003) -- Two alert LBPD bike patrol officers arrested a 17-year old juvenile who investigators believe is responsible for a series of peeping incidents in downtown Pine Ave. business' restrooms.
LBPD says during the past two weeks, its Sex Crimes Investigators received two reports alleging that a male African-American teen with a thin build was seen crawling under womens' restroom stalls in two different businesses near Pine Ave. and Broadway.
LBPD downtown bike patrol officers, aware of these crimes, contacted two juveniles in the area on Oct. 28. One juvenile, age 17 and a LB resident, was identified as the suspect wanted in connection with the peeping incidents. He is currently on probation for robbery.
The other juvenile, 15 and from Barstow, was found to be in possession of handgun.
They are now facing charges for these crimes. LBPD Public Information Officer Jana Blair says both juveniles claim to be members of an L.A. street gang.
Detectives believe more women may have been confronted by the peeping suspect while using restrooms in the area...and LBPD is trying to locate a woman they believe may have been a victim on or about October 12.
LBPD asks anyone with information about these incidents, or who wishes to make a report, to call Sex Crimes Detectives Russ Moss at (562) 570-7368.
