News High Speed Cypress PD Chase Ends In ELB Crash at Wardlow/Los Coyotes
(Oct. 26, 2005) -- A high speed chase that began in Cypress ended in ELB with a crash at Los Coyotes Diagonal and Wardlow Rd. at about 11:00 a.m. today (Oct. 26). LBReport.com was on scene just minutes after the collision and captured these photos.
The suspect fleeing police was driving the dark truck. He survived.
An innocent victim, described by Cypress PD as an elderly woman, was driving the white car. She survived.
Cypress PD Sgt. Steve Olson says the Orange County Sheriff Dept. came to Cypress to serve an arrest warrant on an individual who allegedly failed to complete a work-furlough program to which he'd been sentenced as a result of a previous conviction. When OC Sheriffs didn't find the suspect at his residence, Cypress PD units saturated the area and found him driving his truck.
Sgt. Olson said a chase ensued when the suspect allegedly refused to yield, then blew through red lights and drove in disregard of public safety.
The pursuit sped west on Wardlow Rd., ending when the suspect collided with an innocent party, described as an elderly woman, at Los Coyotes Diagonal.
The suspect and innocent victim were taken to a local hospital with what Sgt. Olson described as relatively minor injuries.
Cypress PD identified the suspect as Joshua Pack, 24, of Cypress. He's effectively in custody at the hospital (from which Cypress PD will process him accordingly).
Further details are unavailable but will be posted here as newsworthy.
