(Oct. 30, 2005) -- Organizers of an increasingly popular Community Carnival at LB's Grace Brethren Church (3601 Linden Ave. in Bixby Knolls) say they hope to break last year's attendance of 3,000 at this year's 10th annual event, slated for Halloween night October 31 from 5 p.m.-8 p.m..
"It provides children in the community with a fun, safe alternative to trick-or-treating, and the attractions we've been able to line up this year are quite amazing," emails Dayna Michaelsen. (The church release doesn't mention the word "Halloween," by the way.)
Among the plans: over one ton of free candy for LB kids, game booths, a skate park, a touch tank from the Aquarium of the Pacific, an Armada Baseball pitching cage, a live DJ and band, bounce houses, inflatable slides and obstacle courses, hay mazes, a kids' pumpkin patch, appearances by Robbie the LBPD Robot Car, Spike from the Ice Dogs...and "a few surprises." (Organizers cautiously add some events and attractions are subject to change.)
There'll also be a booth accepting monetary donations for victims of hurricane Katrina, plus a "Taste of Bixby Knolls" where local restaurateurs will be serving up a variety of tasty specialties.
Enjoy!
