(Oct. 25, 2005. updated 8:10 a.m.) -- Many LB residents awoke to the sound of news helicopters whirring overhead today (Oct. 25) as a security matter (details pending) caused LBPD to block the Airport entrance and conduct a serious search.
The incident lasted from the predawn hours until shortly before 8:00 a.m. when police began letting passengers enter the Airport area. Delays and long lines are expected in the coming hours.
At 6:30 a.m., passengers and airport area employees began bunching up on the corner of Lakewood/Wardlow...
...trying to pass the time in the predawn darkness.
Most were on cell phones, trying to find out when they might be allowed to fly.
