(Oct. 9, 2016, 12:25 p.m.) -- Less than two miles from where city officials posed for pictures at the LB Marathon start/finish line, a man was shot at midmorning Sunday (Oct. 9) in the area of Long Beach Blvd./Pacific Coast Highway.

LBPD Public Information Officer Sgt. James Richardson tells LBREPORT.com that on Oct. 9 at roughly 10:02 a.m., officers responded to the area of Long Beach Blvd/PCH regarding a possible shooting and arrived to find a man (adult) with a gunshot wound.

The victim was transported to a hospital and said two men (adults) in a silver truck approached him...and one of them shot him before they fled the area.

The shooting took place roughly 1.5 to 2.0 miles north of LB's downtown and the LB Marathon start finish line; the crime scene is on the border of the 1st and 6th Council districts represented by Councilmembers Lena Gonzalez and Dee Andrews.
