    Breaking News

Sept. 12: Another Bixby Knolls Bank Robbed, First Bank & Trust, Atlantic b/w Bixby & Roosevelt Rds.

(Sept. 13, 2002) -- There's been another bank robbery in Bixby Knolls.

And it was another brazen midday crime with the robbers striking shortly before 2 p.m. on Thursday Sept. 12.

This time, the victimized business was the First Bank & Trust at 3850 Atlantic Ave. between Bixby and Roosevelt Rds. in the 8th Council district.

LBPD spokeswoman Nancy Pratt told LBReport.com two men entered the business with three employees and a customer present.

The employees and the customer suddenly found themselves at the dangerous end of a gun wielded by one of the bank robbers.

The robbers demanded money. They made off with an unspecified amount. They were last seen headed north on Atlantic Ave.

On May 20, as previously reported by LBReport.com, the Washington Mutual Bank branch on Atlantic Ave. at Roosevelt Road was robbed.

Since bank robbery is a federal crime, federal authorites are investigating this latest crime along with the LBPD.

Anyone with information is asked to call detective John Mercado at (562) 570-7464.
