(June 30, 2003) -- The Alameda Corridor Transportation Authority has named John Doherty, ACTA's Director of Construction of Engineering, to serve as interim CEO on the departure of CEO James C. Hankla...who will be sworn in as a member of LB's Board of Harbor Commissioners on July 1.
In a written release, L.A. Councilwoman (and ACTA Board chair) Janice Hahn stated:
"Under Jim's leadership ACTA was able to usher in a multi-billion dollar project which is the model of efficiency. While the initial corridor has been completed, there are ongoing projects for ACTA to tackle and we trust that Mr. Doherty will lead us in the right direction."
Mr. Hankla is quoted in the release as saying:
"The Alameda Corridor has become a model for the on-time and on-budget completion of major public works projects. The Alameda Corridor Transportation Authority is well-positioned to continue the work of making port-related cargo movements more efficient while minimizing the traffic congestion and air quality impacts on local communities."
Mr. Doherty will serve as interim CEO until a permanent successor is selected by ACTA's governing board, the release said.
